About Our Therapist

Sara Folk - Certified & Registered Reflexologist, RYT 500hr, Thai Yoga Therapist, Reiki I & II practitioner, Access Bars® practitioner & founder of Folk Roots Restorative.

Sara first found an interest in the world of health & wellness at a young age due to being exposed to many sporting activities. She has grown up in the soccer community & was heavily involved in the sport for over 20 years competitively here in Calgary. Her background in sport has taught her the importance of maintaining healthy movement in the body. Sara graduated college & started work in the healthcare field as a Registered Dental Assistant in 2007. After graduating, she realized how significant maintaining movement, stretching daily and living in a pain free range of motion was, to uphold a long-term career in this field of work. The road to enlightenment continued as she herself dealt with several major injuries, accidents, and hardships of her own over the years that included physical, mental & emotional strain. That is what led her to find & learn about the world of yoga. It was there that she was enlightened, she had already learned all these move’s years before through sport, they were just done in a different way. Feeling as though something in her was sparked she followed this path to become a Certified Embodiment Yoga Teacher with 200 hours under her belt & continued advanced training to become specialized as a trauma informed Thai Yoga Therapist at the 500-hour level through the Mandorla yoga institute. It was here that she finally felt she found her calling. She has experienced firsthand the wonders of what Thai yoga, when done mindfully and intelligently, can do for one’s body. Not only physically but mentally & emotionally too. Along her journey learning Thai yoga therapy, she also discovered the art of Reiki healing & Access Bars and how working with the energy at a more intimate level can optimize one’s healing journey.

Sara has continued to expand her skill set over the years, adding to her toolbox Reflexology. She studied this powerful yet gentle modality in Calgary at the Reflexology Experience and is certified and registered Reflexologist in good standing under the NHPC (Natural Health Practitioners of Canada). Sara also has a background as a Registered Dental Assistant for over 15 years and has gone on to specialize in TMJ therapy- intra-oral massage; helping alleviate pain & headache issues in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles in the head, face and neck caused by stress, clenching/grinding, or trauma. She also offers professional teeth whitening, helping renew & support confident smiles.

It is these things that have given her the drive to share these wonderful modalities with the world and help bring people back to their roots, reclaim their bodies & find their Zen!

Sara is dedicated to helping to contribute to one’s personal growth & self-discovery, self-healing and Zen needs. Her goal is to accomplish true relaxation and rejuvenation through the use of modalities such as trauma informed embodiment yoga classes, Thai yoga massage, Reflexology, Reiki & Access Bars, and TMJ therapy- intra-oral massage in an inclusive, safe, caring & nurturing space.
